Calculus Lab 2
Syllabus
Course description: This course continues on work started last semester involvoing Maple and LaTeX to do advanced projects and problem solving. This course will focus both on problem solving techniques as well as writing and presenting mathematics.

Location: Olin Hall MathLab Time: Wednesday 2:30-3:50 and Thursday, 1:00-2:20
Homework: Lab assignments and relevant documents will be posted here . Labs will be collected roughly every other week.
Late Homework Policy: Late homework will not be accepted unless prior arrangements are made with me. If your pair/group cannot meet an assigned deadline, you may have an extension, provided you contact me via email at least 24 hours in advance. You will set the extended deadline, and it is binding (that is, only one extension per assignment).
Presentations: As part of this course, you'll be learning about the Beamer package for LaTeX (think "Mathematical Powerpoint"). Each lab group will be responsible for giving a short presentation using this package near the end of the semester. Details will be given later on in the semester.
Attendance: You are expected to attend all regularly scheduled class meetings. If you must miss lab for some reason, you must let me know in advance. Each unexcused absence after the first will result in a reduction of one-third of a grade for the semester.
Grading: Grades will be assigned on a rougly 90-80-70 scale, with grades weighted as follows.

Academic Honesty: The work that you submit for your lab reports must be your own. You may collaborate with other groups only on minor points with regard to the lab. Any conceptual questions should be addressed to me. Additionally, you will be asked to occasionally do outside research on certain topics. You are expected to properly cite your outside sources, and your work should conform with Whitman's Academic Honesty Policy with regard to plagiarism.
Special Needs: Any student with a disability for whom special accommodations would be helpful is encouraged to discuss this with the professor as soon as possible.
