Alexander Stage

The Alexander Stage, named for Rod Alexander (Professor of Dramatic Arts and Director of Whitman Theatre from 1948-1967), seats 315 patrons and is wheelchair accessible. The proscenium opening measures 39'-0" x 18'-0", and the stage extends upstage 26'-0" past the plaster line. The semi-thrust stage features a revolving turntable measuring 18'-6" in diameter, a 15'-0" apron with a removable pit cover, and 30'-0" of wingspace. The 40'-0" flyloft houses 15 counterweighted line sets and 11 hemp line sets. Lighting positions along the catwalk, house rails, and first electric provide circuits for a ninety-six 2.4 K dimmer lighting system. The Colortran Encore XL control board in the booth has a 512 dimmer capacity with forty-eight submasters, permits up to six hundred cues per show, and features advanced cue sequencing for links, follows, and subroutines.
