The Forest of Arden, a place where Duke Senior and his cohorts attempt to recreate "the golden world," a counter-culture with its own values, ideals, art, and music. Sounds like the youthful exuberance of the 60's to me. Rock concert scaffolding, rear screen projections, vibrant colors, and the music and images of 1967 provided a setting for this production of Shakespeare's, As You Like It.

The set and props budget was set at $2500. The build overlapped the build of 2 operas. The construction crew consisted of the TD and 6 undergraduate students. The same shop crew was responsible for the opera build. Total shop time was 3 weeks.

The rental scaffolding provided the structure and support for the upper levels and towers. The lower platform, all decking, and all step units were constructed. The structure of the step units and the lower platform was fabricated from steal tube.

Projections used two 15' wide by 30 ' tall rear screen projection surfaces and 6 Kodak 35mm projectors with wide angle lenses. There were 124 slide changes controlled by a programmable multi-projector slide controller.
