The House of Bernarda Alba was produced on the Harper Joy Theatre Mainstage. The auditorium is a 315 seat, semi-thrust proscenium theatre.

The scenery build budget was approximately $3,500, and the build time was four weeks. Heavily textured, hard flats were employed to create Bernards's forced perspective stuccoed enclave. Barren white walls overwhelmed the hard tiled floors. Shutters and bars secured the few windows, and sun weathered wooden beams supported the tile roof. The house of Bernarda Alba appears as a secure and formidable compound, void of color, warmth, or love.

The construction crew was composed of ten undergraduate students and the Technical Director.

The drafting was produced in Macromedia Freehand, Version 5 and reduced in scale from the original 24" X 36" Plates.

The Whitman design for Bernarda Alba has been accepted for inclusion in The International Theatre Design Archive - For Viewing, please see: The International Theatre Design Archive

A complete set of high resolution production photos and production drafting has been archived on CD-ROM in an image database and is available upon request.
