Among the many theatrical productions of Candide, Leonard Bernstein's musical comedy, with a book by Lillian Hellman, lyrics by Richard Wilbur, and additional lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and John Latouche, is probably the most successful and enduring. This show, revised in 1973, was revived on Broadway in 1997 by director Hal Prince with stars Jim Dale, Andrea Martin and Harolyn Blackwell.
