Hello and Welcome!

Mark Juhasz

I am an Associate Professor and current Chair of the Chemistry Department at Whitman College. At Whitman, I regularly teach organic chemistry courses, an advanced synthesis lab, and an advanced physical organic chemistry course for upper-level students. I also lead a student research group that investigates new synthetic methods for preparing boron clusters, molecules with potential uses as drugs, advanced materials, and catalysts for industrial chemical reactions.

Before coming to Whitman in 2009, I taught as a visiting faculty member in two other chemistry departments: at Colby College in Waterville, Maine and at Allegheny College in Meadville, Pennsylvania. In addition to teaching, I enjoy cycling, running, hiking, cooking, and brewing beer, as well as spending time with my wife, Abby (who works in Whitman's Career and Community Engagement Center) and our family.
