Research Interests
The
meta-theme of my research is the political ecology of global-local
linkages in
conservation and development of rural areas. My general research interests lie in (1) the
potential of local natural
resource management to conserve resources, reduce poverty and promote
inclusive
governance in rural areas, (2) ways that exogenous, spatially
distant
actors influence local environmental
institutions,
governance and access, (3) the role of networks and complex formal organizations in shaping natural resource management, policy,
and access, and (4) in terms of theory, exploring the usefulness of
a network approach and ontology to bridge structural and agency
explanations of
social, political and spatial processes.
