PROF. PAUL H. YANCEY

HUMAN ANATOMY & PHYSIOLGY
Bio 120

Whitman College, Walla Walla, Washington, USA

4 credits, Spring Semester
With BIO 120L--Required Laboratory

Students in the lab

A course with no prerequisites designed for non-biology majors. 2-3 lectures per week focus on the structures and functions of human organ systems responsible for self-regulation, maintenance and reproduction, including evolutionary origins. Some weeks there will also be discussion sessions on current physiological and medical issues and their societal implications. Both lecture and lab will include computer simulations, Internet sites and videos. Laboratories parallel the lectures, and also include experiments with students as test subjects (electrocardiograms, respiratory parameters, neural functions, etc.), and may include 1 or 2 sessions with dissections of preserved animals.

Funding for the most recent computer enhancements for this course was provided by the Howard Hughes Medical Institute
