You are encouraged to try as many of the exercises as possible from each of the sections covered in class, and I will be happy to discuss any of the exercises beyond those included on this list.

Assigned Wednesday, 1/21:

Read Section 1.1

Come up with two additional proofs of the identity proved in class, 1+3+5+...+(2n-1)=n ², one algebraic and one geometric.

Please see me outside of class if you're having any issues with these proofs.

Assigned Friday, 1/23:

Read Section 1.2

Do Section 1.1, Exercises 2bd, 3d, 6, 7. Also do the Clock Problem given in class.
