My students have created several educational software packages. These can be downloaded free-of-charge by clicking on each icon. This will download a zipped file onto your computer. You will open the packages in your web browser or you will need to download a free software package, Flash Player (version 10 or higher), from the Internet and then open the software through Flash Player.

Dispersion Calculator

This Flask-based and numerical engine package allows users to estimate the dispersion of a chemical tracer or pollutant in soil and sediment columns. Experimental data from pulse or step input of pollutants can be modeled. This software was created by Gabrielle Boisrame, Albert Schueller and Frank Dunnivant. Zipped file size: 0.468 Mb

This was our first software package created by Dan Danowski. EnviroLand contains several Visual Basic simulations of wet laboratory experiments for environmental chemistry (i.e. alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, etc.), a theoretical calculation/simulator (pC-pH diagram), and seven pollutant fate and transport simulators. EnviroLand only works on PC machines. Zipped file size: 12 Mb

EnviroLab

This is a remake of the lab components of our first software package, EnviroLand. EnviroLab contains Visual Basic simulations of alkalinity, hardness, dissolved oxygen, biochemical oxygen demand, and total suspended solids experiments. EnviroLab components are dual platform packages and work on PC and Mac machines.

FATE-2011

This upgraded Flask-based package replaces EnviroLand and the orginal Fate, and is compatible on Mac and PC machines. Fate contains pollutant fate and transport simulators for pulse and step inputs of pollutants to atmospheric, lake, river, and groundwater systems. This software was created by Elliot Anders and Frank Dunnivant. Zipped file size: 11 Mb
To Print in Fate

pC-pH

This Flask-based package replaces the pC-pH simulator in EnviroLand and is compatible on Mac and PC machines. The user can draw diagrams for any concentration of carbonate or sulfide in water. This software was created by Elliot Anders and Frank Dunnivant. Zipped file size: 622 Kb

Water

shockwave file .AVI file (QuickTime)

This Flask-based package takes the viewer on a tour of state-of-the-art drinking water and domestic wastewater treatment plants. Water serves as a great introduction to treatment processes and is geared toward high school and undergraduate education. Zipped file size: 344 Mb

Global Issues

shockwave file .AVI file (QuickTime)

This Flask-based package focuses on three pressing issues in environmental chemistry and engineering: acid rain, global warming, and ozone depletion. It serves as a great introduction to environmental issues and is geared toward high school and undergraduate education. Zipped file size: 52 Mb

GC Tutorial

shockwave file .AVI file (QuickTime)

This Flask-based package provides a detailed overview of the theory and use of a capillary column gas chromatograph. The GC Tutorial is geared toward laboratory courses in environmental chemistry and instrument methods of analysis. Zipped file size: 35 Mb

HPLC Tutorial

shockwave file .AVI file (QuickTime)

This Flask-based package provides a detailed overview of the theory and use of a high pressure liquid chromatograph. The HPLC Tutorial is geared toward laboratory courses in environmental chemistry and instrument methods of analysis. Zipped file size: 62 Mb
